Provided the weather and sea conditions are reasonable, we can take you into or out of Bear Glacier everyday from June 1st through the end of September. So any days in these months are suitable for overnight camping/kayaking/rafting trips. However, vessel entry from the ocean into the river mouth at Bear Glacier is tidal dependant so the times that we take you in or out are restricted to near high tides, the times of which change daily, so you will need to e-mail or call us to find out the departure times for the day you'd like to go in. This also means that not all days are suitable for day trips into Bear Glacier as one of the high tides may be late at night. The following days are suitable for day trips:

The day trips are usually between 10 and 12 hours in length including the water taxi ride. Water taxi travel time is 45 minutes each way.
Start the trip with a scenic water taxi ride, which takes you into the mouth of the Bear Glacier drainage. From there, we'll hike through fields of native Alaskan flora and then across terrain that shows the succession of plants as the ecosystem develops over time, and also features fascinating geological phenomena created by the receding glacier. On the lake shore, we'll stop to eat a packed lunch, and we'll explore the lake by pack-raft and paddle back to the boat.
Please note that we do recommend doing the overnight trips, as there is so much to see and explore. The kayaks are cached near the lake so you won't have to waste precious paddling time loading and off-loading kayaks.
